Mike Barrett, a partner in the firm's Real Estate & Land Use practice, has more than 25 years of experience in the areas of real estate acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, joint ventures and investments, real estate aspects of mergers and acquisitions, real estate finance, and workouts. His clients have included entrepreneurs, investors, pension funds, commercial banks, investment banks, private funds, corporate owners of real estate, non-profits and governmental agencies. He has represented these clients in the development, purchase, sale and financing of raw land, office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, golf courses, resorts, marinas, bank branches, aviation-related properties, government facilities and portfolios of properties. His financing work has included the representation of lenders and borrowers in acquisition, development, construction and term financing, as well as unsecured corporate credits and synthetic leases. He regularly represents landlords and tenants in office, industrial and retail leasing.
During times of weakness in the real estate industry, Mike has handled workouts and bankruptcies involving hotels, office buildings, shopping centers, mixed-use projects and residential developments. He has worked on properties from the Pacific Northwest to Florida, New England to Southern California. His projects have ranged in size from tens to hundreds of millions of dollars.
